Historic Building Grants

Great Yarmouth Borough Council can offer grant assistance toward the repair of Listed Buildings or Historic Buildings within a Conservation Area.

Grants are usually limited up to a maximum of £1,000.00.

North Tower

Eligible Works

The objective is to put into sound repair the structure and external envelop of the building.  The repairs should be comprehensive in scope, using appropriate materials, normally on a like-for-like basis.

Repairs may include:

  • Consolidation or reinforcement of the existing structure using sound conservation techniques.

  • Appropriate repairs to roof structure, floor joists, beams and other structural timbers.

  • Re-roofing in natural and traditional materials to match the existing.

  • Repairs to chimneys.

  • Repair and renewal of weathering / flashings and rainwater goods to match historic materials.

  • Repairs of brickwork and external render.

  • Repair and replacement of windows, doors and other joinery.

  • Repair and replacement of historic architectural features such as balconies, canopies and railings.

  • The repair and reinstatement of walls and other means of enclosure.

  • Reinstatement of traditional shop fronts.
