Great Yarmouth Borough Council is proud to work in partnership with the voluntary and community sector.

We believe;

• That the voluntary and community sector is often best placed to support local residents to overcome structural and personal barriers.

• That neighbourhoods and communities are better served when grassroots voluntary and community groups are supported to design and deliver local solutions.

• That the voluntary and community sector make an important contribution towards driving social and economic growth in the Borough, by creating jobs and volunteering opportunities.

• That public sector bodies should make every effort to ensure that their commissioning processes are accessible to local voluntary and community groups.

• That public sector bodies should consult with the voluntary and community sector when considering how to redesign services.

• That Great Yarmouth is served better when the voluntary, private and public sectors work together as a genuine and equal partnership.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is a strong and committed supporter of the local voluntary and community sector. With the recent reductions in public sector grants, council’s are under pressure to take the easy option and cut funding and support to services that are not part of their statutory obligations. Great Yarmouth Borough Council did not take this option, and has continued to work hard to support the sector to make the transition to a new funding environment. The Great Yarmouth Voluntary Sector Partnership applauds their approach.
