Young People's Activities
Why not |
In Spring 2005 the Council undertook a Borough wide consultation of young people to find out what they would like to see provided for them in Great Yarmouth and what the current problems were:
75% said there was a lack of facilities for teenagers.
57% said vandalism was a big issue.
75% wanted to see more Sports Courts (MUGAs)
61% wanted outdoor fitness equipment.
59% would like climbing walls
94% said they would like to see this type of equipment in their area.
80% said boredom was the main reason anti-social behaviour occurs.
There is a definite and urgent demand for the installation of teenage play and sport facilities. This installation has become a priority for any future work programme.
“The young people of today love luxury. They have bad manners, they scoff at authority and lack respect for their elders. Children nowadays are real tyrants, they no longer stand up when their elders come in the room where they are sitting, they contradict their parents, chat together in the presence of adults, eat gluttonously and tyrannise their teachers” .............Socrates 300BC
