Large Casino Licence
Great Yarmouth Borough Council is one of 8 authorities authorised to issue one of the new large casino premises licences under the Gambling Act 2005. Before granting such a licence, the Authority must conduct a two-stage application process. At Stage 1 applicants must apply for a casino premises licence or provisional statement. During this stage, applications will be judged in the same way as for all other premises licences under the Gambling Act 2005.

If there is more than one successful applicant, Stage 2 of the application process will be activated. The licence (or provisional statement) will then be awarded to the application which would, in the Authority’s opinion, be likely if granted to result in the greatest benefit to the Authority’s area.
The large casino process commenced on 1 November 2010. Stage one of the process closed for applications on 17 May 2011. Two applications were received from:
Palatial Leisure Ltd
t/a Palace Bingo and Casino Clubs, for premises at Palace Casino, Church Plain, Great Yarmouth
(To view this application and plans please click below)
Pleasure and Leisure Property Corporation Plc
For a proposed premise at Land south of the Pleasure Beach, South Beach Parade, Great Yarmouth - (To view this application and plans please click below)
Both applications have been granted at stage one.
Stage 2 of the application process requires each applicant to outline the benefits their large casino will bring to the borough. The closing date for stage 2 applications was the 19 September 2011.
It is anticipated that the final licence should be granted by May 2012
