The port has always had a major influence on Great Yarmouth's economy, initially with the fishing industry and for over  40 years with the offshore support industry.  

The new outer harbour, which is in the final stages of development, has been designed to service the needs of a large range of vessels and will fully integrate with the existing river port to become a modern, multi-purpose facility.

River Port

•36 quays covering 3,000 metres

•Safe, sheltered berths

•Length up to 130 metres

•Beam 30 metres

•Draught up to 6.2 metres

•No locks or bridges

PSA Great Yarmouth Container Terminal

A new container terminal headed by two new ZPMC Post Panamax Gantry Cranes and supported by a range of on-the-ground container handling equipment.  Quay length and water depth will accommodate mid and short sea routes encapsulating:

South America/Caribbean
Eastern Mediterranean/North Africa/Scandinavia
South Africa/East Coast/USA
Europe

The terminal offers major freight connections and is positioned on one of the strategic Trans-European Network routes, offering the shortest possible sea route to the Netherlands and Belgium.

First phase operation will provide:

• Container Berths1

• Quay length 200 metres

• Area 12 hectares

• Max depth at Chart Datum 11 metres

• Quay Cranes2

• Phase 1 capacity 250,000 TEU's

ACTIVITIES:

Offshore Support

Strategically located in the Southern North Sea the port has become a centre of excellence in the offshore energy sector and with the introduction of the new deep-water facility, the port can facilitate the larger offshore vessels now being deployed.

Renewables

As demand increases in the renewable energy sector, EastPort UK is ideally placed to become a key strategic base in the construction, commissioning and maintenance of wind farm developments in the North Sea.  .

General Cargo

EastPort UK handles a wide range of cargoes including aggregates, cement, dry and liquid bulks, fertilisers, forest products, grain and minerals, to name a few.

Project Cargo

As well as everyday handling operations, EastPort UK has developed specialist skills in handling specific projects and is perfectly placed to extend this business into the future.
