MESH

MESH is adding to the range of ways in which people can make a contribution to decision-making in their neighbourhood. It is not to replace groups or councillors, but support them and bring common issues/problems/ideas together with other partners to work towards solutions or improvements that fit what residents need.
It is easy to think that all public services are provided by the police, council or health service. Local community and voluntary groups are important too; often having a closer understanding of the way residents are feeling than larger statutory bodies. MESH will work with, and support, anyone who wishes to set up a community group or project, offering advice and resources wherever possible, but we will not run the group for you.
MESH works by drawing together services and giving people the opportunity to influence and set the agenda for their area. This means making sure MESH works as part of a team with colleagues in different public services as well as finding ways of listening effectively to local communities that share their area.
Local policing plays an important part in this. People can raise neighbourhood policing issues at the Community Steering Group, where residents set up to three priorities for Police in their area. (Please see dates below.)
The other main part of MESH is information, bringing together all the groups, consultations, ideas and events so that local people have a central point of contact. Get in touch by popping into the Neighbourhood Office during our opening hours, give us a call on 01493 604739, email us on info.mesh@btconnect.com, or keep up to date via our facebook page 'MESH office Shrublands’.
