A bid to the ‘Transforming Your Space’ Big Lottery Fund has also been successful.

A specific environmental project that this money will finance is a new Circular Walk around the community.

A new Recreational Park is also planned for the local residents.

Runham Vauxhall Residents Association

The established Runham Vauxhall Residents Association has developed into a collective, coherent and cohesive community group who have been negotiating with local agencies to achieve their goals. They are a collective lobbying group who are engaged in discussions with a clear shopping list of priorities which include:

  • The creation of improved links to the town centre, supermarket, pharmacy and railway station using links to avoid subways. A pedestrian crossing is required across the Acle New Road, together with environmental improvements including improved lighting and landscaping.

  • The A47/A149 link road is vital to alleviate the problems regarding HGV access to the Eurocentre industrial estate through the community and also traffic congestion at Runham Vauxhall roundabout.

  • The need to improve the highway network within the community eg traffic calming, speed humps, weight limits, reduced speed limit to 20mph, ‘Homezones’ (ie child friendly, landscaped street scenes), improve walkways and pavements, create a car parking area – especially to serve residents of School Road and School Road Back.

  • Bring unadopted School Road Back to an adoptable standard.

  • Improve the quality of housing throughout the area.

  • Create a recreational area for the community.

  • Improve general landscaping and planting eg the much improved riverside enhancement area which includes seating, planting and re-profiling.

  • Create a circular walk
