Susan Robinson Special Award

Last year the first civic awards for the Borough of Great Yarmouth were initiated by Councillor Susan Robinson. Sadly In August 2007 Susan passed away following a short illness. Susan repeatedly said during her year that one of her proudest moments was launching the civic awards. The Borough Council have now decided to rename these awards in her memory. The idea of these awards is to recognise people within the Borough who devote their time in helping others without any financial reward for themselves. We would also like nominations for people who have achieved sporting, business and personal success and those who have overcome exceptional difficulties. We want to thank those unsung heroes.

How to Nominate

To be eligible for a nomination, a person should have lived within the Borough of Great Yarmouth for a minimum of two years prior to the 31 January 2008.

Nominations should be made no later than 1 February 2008 using the Nomination Form. Each nomination should be from a proposer who is not related to the person being nominated.

Completed nominations should be posted to the Mayor’s Parlour, Town Hall, Great Yarmouth NR30 2QF or email the information to lauragoodman@great-yarmouth.gov.uk.

A panel of judges, which will include the Mayor, Councillor Paul Garrod will meet in February. Successful nominations will then be notified and invited with guests to a civic reception to be held at the Town Hall in March.
