Your Rights & Obligations

Hostel residents rights in hostel accommodation are much less secure than those of a tenant or owner occupier. You are entitled to reasonable written notice, if asked to leave. The notice period will vary depending on the reason given for an eviction.

Finding Hostel Accommodation

Hostel accommodation in Great Yarmouth is provided by a variety of voluntary organisations and housing associations.

Most hostels cater for certain needs, for example, those with mental health needs or young single persons. These hostels can only be accessed by completing their own application forms and joining their own waiting list.

Details of different hostels can be obtained from a housing advisor at the Council’s Advice & Homelessness Service by telephoning 01493 846398 or 01493 846476 or by contacting them at Greyfriars House, where Drop-in Sessions take place between 9:00 am and 12:00 midday, Monday to Friday

There is one direct access hostel in Great Yarmouth for homeless persons. Please be aware that it has a very high demand for its services and does not always have vacancies. This is:
