Great Yarmouth Borough Council has recently completed its Stock Options Appraisal. This involved working out how much money is needed to ensure council housing is of a high quality in the future.
There was a rigorous consultation process with Council tenants to make sure that the right decisions were made. The tenants voted that the Council should retain its stock and continue to manage it themselves. The tenants also told the Council what their priorities were for funding in the next few years. These were recorded at a Reference Group meeting in October 2005 (

Change Management Plan (38kb)” was produced for further work. The key priorities included:
Meeting the Decent Homes standard by 2010 for all Council homes
Produce more affordable housing for the borough
Increase tenant involvement in decision making
