The Planning Portal is available to you in association with the Council's Planning Services. The Planning Portal is intended to be the first point of call for anyone who wants to find out about the planning system in England and Wales.
It is aimed at everyone, from central government and local authorities to planning professionals and interested lay people.
The Planning Portal offers the latest National Planning News, access to Regulations and Guidance Notes for applications and Appeals Procedure.

Planning Portal Home Page
The Planning Portal offers a wide range of services and guidance on the planning system. This is the main entry page into the portal. From here you check if you need planning permission for a development, find jobs in planning in the Careers zone, find out more about planning appeals, and read the latest planning news.
Guide to the Planning System
The Guide section offers a brief introduction to the planning system and some explanation of what planning is for and why it is important to us all. This section of the Planning Portal is intended for both householders and business people. It explains why planning controls are necessary and how decisions are made.
Policy and Research
The Policy & Research section of the Portal is aimed at planning professionals and those with an in-depth interest in planning policy and reform.
Online Planning Application
You can submit planning applications electronically, add attachments, and make a payment. The two methods of payment are as follows:
Pay online (strongly recommended)
You can use Master, Visa, Delta, Switch, Solo, Maestro or Electron Card.
Pay by cheque
Please ensure the Planning Portal Ref of your application is written on the back of the cheque before posting it to us.
Note We will not process your application until the Council receives the cheque, signed and dated, made payable to Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
The National Planning Register
A new service provided by the Planning Portal that allows you to search for information on planning applications and decisions made in every area of England and Wales.
Great Yarmouth Borough-Wide Local Plan Interactive
An interactive electronic version of the Great Yarmouth Borough-Wide Plan can also be accessed through the Planning Portal.
