Full-time students
If you are a full-time student, you may qualify for help with your rent and/or Council Tax if you are one of the following:
- A pensioner.
- A lone parent.
- Disabled.
- In receipt of Income Support/Income Based Jobseekers Allowance.
- A student couple with dependent children.
- Solely responsible for a child aged under 19 and following a course of further education.
Who must make the claim
Partners of students, who are not students themselves, are eligible to claim Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit on behalf of the couple. The student cannot make the claim.
How to claim
Complete an application form for Housing/Council Tax Benefit and return it to Great Yarmouth Borough Council as soon as possible. Please ensure you enclose proof of your student loan and course details.
