Great Yarmouth Borough Council has signed up to the Verification Framework. This is a Government initiative that tightens up the Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit System in order to make it more difficult to make a fraudulent claim.
The framework specifies the proofs and information that must be provided in support of a claim and this information can be seen on the second page of the application form. This information must then be made available for checks throughout the period of a claim. We have a team of Visiting Officers that work across the borough and visit benefit claimants in their homes.
Visits will not always be pre notified but our Visiting Officers carry official identification. The Visiting Officer will ask to see recent evidence of your income and capital in support of your claim.
