John was born in Southtown and has lived in the Borough for most of his life. He was elected for the ward in 2007 and a County Councillor for 20 years.

John is an active member of the Cobholm, Southtown and Halfway House Neigbourhood Board, a trustee of both Homestart and Great Yarmouth Community Trust.

He is a keen walker and reader and spends much of his spare time with his four daughters and seven grandchildren.
