The Role of a Councillor
To contribute to good governance and actively encourage community participation and resident involvement in decision-making their their area
To represent the interests of their ward
To deal with constituents' enquires and representations
Meet regularly with key local stakeholders
To participate in the activities of outside bodies and report back to the council
To champion the causes which further the interests, quality of life and sustainable development of the community

Annual allowances and expenses paid to Councillors
Councillors do not receive a salary for the work they do. They are however entitled to receive an allowance and expenses to ensure that they are not left out of pocket for carrying out their official duties. Councillors with special responsibilities such as Cabinet Members receive additional allowances.
