Heroes Welcome
On Tuesday 5 July 2011 the Mayor of Great Yarmouth, was joined by members of the Royal Anglian Regiment to launch ‘Heroes Welcome’ in Great Yarmouth Market Place.
Heroes Welcome allows local businesses and organisations to show how much they appreciate the commitment and bravery of current members of our armed forces, as well as veterans.
Businesses can sign up to the scheme, for free, and in return are allowed to display the Heroes Welcome logo – indicating a warm welcome for members of the armed forces, or for those businesses that choose to offer one – even a discount on purchases.
The scheme started in Scarborough and has now been adopted by around 50 areas of the England and Scotland, with Great Yarmouth the latest.
There are already around fifteen businesses signed up – from retailers, to eateries, to taxi firms.
Becoming part of the scheme simply requires a business to fill out a short registration form.
Businesses choosing to take part in Heroes Welcome get a plug on the Great Yarmouth page of the national website – www.heroeswelcome.co.uk
Great Yarmouth already has strong links with The Royal Anglian Regiment and HMS Dauntless, and the Heroes Welcome initiative is just another way of extending our traditionally warm welcome to members of the armed forces.
