Do you know what loops, cones, waves, mounds, noodles and spiders have to do with playing?
If you are a child the imagination is probably already running riot - and that’s just what this unusual play kit, which is being trialled at Great Yarmouth’s Play day, is all about.

“We think the large plastic pieces of kit are an excellent way to get children to invent their own games and mix with other youngsters,” said Play Development Worker Adrian Barnes.
“And that’s the whole idea of Play day - which is a national scheme where thousands of children around the country join in local events.
“It’s the first time we have celebrated Play day in Great Yarmouth, and it seemed the perfect occasion to get lots of young people to tell us what they think of the new play equipment that we are considering investing in.
“There will be lots of opportunities for the children to take part in all kinds of other pursuits as well, such as dressing up, a puppet show, building a den, making models from junk or even discovering what fun a huge cardboard box can be!.”

The local event is being organised as part of Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s Big Lottery funded Play Development Project. It will be held at St Nicholas recreation ground, South Beach Parade (opposite the Pleasure Beach), on Wednesday August 5, from 11am to 3.30pm.
Children of all ages are welcome but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
There are nearly 90 playgrounds across the borough, Play day will help parents find out about these and other play opportunities.
The events at Play day will be offered by many different organisations, they include SeaChange Arts, BeWILDerwood and the library service.
