On Thursday 12 November the winners of the Boats and Buildings photographic competition were invited to attend a small reception hosted by the Mayor and Mayoress in the Mayor's Parlour, winners tucked into homemade cookies baked by the Mayoress and were presented with photographic vouchers and certificates along with enlarged copies of their winning photos.
Deputy Leader Barry Stone said "This year’s entries really captured the diverse heritage of the Borough and also included some very current images, making the judging extremely difficult which is why we decided three extra entries should be commended for their work as well as the winning entries"
The winning entry by Nancy Collinge was picked from more than 40 entries and captured a naval ship decorated with all its regalia at the maritime festival. Nancy's photo features on the front cover of the winter 2009 Borough News magazine which is currently being delivered to residents.
After the prizes were awarded the Mayor took guests on an impromptu visit of the council chamber and gave an insight into the life of a councillor. He also invited everyone in the Borough to attend the Christmas carol service at St Nicholas Church on December 14 at 7pm
