A joint civic carol service hosted by the High Sheriff of Norfolk, Mr Robert Carter DL and his Worship the Mayor Cllr Tony Smith is to be a truly fantastic Christmas occasion for the Borough of Great Yarmouth.
Over 300 people have already confirmed their attendance at the service being held on 14th December 2009 at St Nicholas Parish Church. An official procession, which includes the Lions Father Christmas & Sleigh, will leave the Town Hall for the short walk to St Nicholas Church.
“It’s going to be a very special service this year” said Mayor, Tony Smith “ However, to make it even better I would like local scouts, cubs, guides, brownies and cadets to join the procession.. All they need to do is to bring their torches and be at the Town Hall for 6.15pm ready to leave at 6.30pm.
The service is a real joint effort by a number of organisations. Great Yarmouth College will be decorating the Church and the Salvation Army Ensemble band will be playing during the service.
We want everyone to be part of the evening and a signer will be there for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.”
It is hoped that the church will be completely full for this magical event. For further information contact Laura Goodman, Mayoral and Civic Events Officer on 01493 846125
