Kickz Returns to Cobholm
Norwich City Football in the Community is proud to announce the North Walsham, King’s Lynn and Great Yarmouth launch of the highly successful social inclusion project Kickz.
Kickz is a project targeted at engaging youngster’s aged 13 - 19 with their local community and steering them from away from the anti-social behaviour and crime problems, which affect the communities of Norfolk.
To help stem these problems Kickz uses activities ranging from football coaching, basketball, street dance and educational workshops tackling health issues and the dangers of falling into petty crime.
Since the successful initial scheme in Cobholm, Great Yarmouth in 2008, the project has worked with over 150 children, attracted 42 volunteers to the project and seen an increased cohesion between the local communities in Cobholm. Anecdotal evidence from the local community points to a marked decrease in anti-social behaviour.
After successful launches at Bowthorpe and Dereham the project will be introduced to North Walsham and King’s Lynn. The scheme will also return to Cobholm with the hope of replicating the success of last year. The Kickz project is held three nights a week in each location.
To the help the launch of the Kickz projects first team players from Norwich City will be visiting the towns to meet the young people and pass on their experiences.
