• Helps the council and its partners to set out and achieve their priorities.

• Provides support to Members, the Executive Board, Heads of Department and Service Unit Managers to improve the services.

• We keep the council up to date and prepared for the challenges of the future, including new and emerging policies.

• working in partnership with the Police and other agencies to develop targeted, effective crime and disorder reduction initiatives

• To promote and foster cohesive communities by establishing multi disciplinary partnerships to promote and support community development

• encouraging the involvement of local people in the planning, delivery and evaluation of services in their neighbourhoods

• helping to build on the sense of identity and pride people have in their communities and neighbourhoods

• ensuring quality and equality of treatment across all of the Councils services

Communications

• To provide clear and accessible information about the Council, it's policies and services

• To consult and listen to, the community, businesses, the Council's employees and all other stakeholders

• To ensure the web is the enabler to provide information and services to the customer

• To strengthen the reputation of the Council as an effective and efficient provider of high quality services and to maintain a consistently high profile with key audiences

• To facilitate and promote he use of INTRAN to enable all to access council services

• To manage and effective press function

• Provide a graphic design service
