At this time of year with the days getting shorter there is a temptation for dog owners to allow their pets to foul and not clear up after them. Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s Environmental Ranger team would like to remind dog owners that the whole of Great Yarmouth Borough is covered by the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996. Failure to clear up after a dog has fouled can incur a fine of up to £1,000
Safer Workplaces, Better Businesses
Over 50 businesses have benefited from a project set up by Great Yarmouth, North Norfolk, Breckland and Kings Lynn’s local councils. The four Norfolk councils joined forces to set up ‘The Safer Workplace, Better Business’ which helps make health and safety management easy for small businesses.
‘Have your Say’ invitation to Great Yarmouth residents
On Wednesday (Oct 28, 10.00am to 4.00pm) residents are invited to come along to an event organised by the Borough Council being held in Great Yarmouth Market Place to have their say on Council Services.
Kickz is a project targeted at engaging youngster’s aged 13 - 19 with their local community and steering them from away from the anti-social behaviour and crime problems, which affect the communities of Norfolk.
Great Yarmouth’s Trafalgar Day Service is once again being held at Nelson’s monument on South Denes on Sunday October 18, at 12.30pm. The service is open to all who wish to celebrate Britain’s greatest naval hero.
Great Yarmouth gets set for London 2012 with the adiZone
Great Yarmouth is to get its very own taste of London 2012, thanks to the installation of an adiZone – a giant multi-sport outdoor gym venue which aims to inspire the local community to get involved in sport.
Take Away Owner Fined by Courts
A Gorleston Kebab shop owner was fined £4000, at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court on Friday 2nd October, for failing to comply with two Hygiene Improvement Notices.
Service Delivery Examined at Great Yarmouth and Gorleston Area Scrutiny Committees
Residents are invited to attend two new meetings set up to look at service delivery and locality/partnership working across Yarmouth and Gorleston. The new meetings replace the twice yearly Great Yarmouth Area Liaison and Gorleston Area Liaison Committees.
The Freeview National Re-tune is fast approaching. From lunch time on Wednesday 30 September 2009, everyone with a Freeview TV or box (including BT Vision and Top Up TV recorders) will need to re-tune. The re-tune is necessary to continue to receive Channel Five and for those who will get Five for the first time.

The East Of England Makes a Splash at Aberdeen
Over twenty local companies are attending the 2009 Offshore Europe Exhibition, affectionately known to all in the oil and gas industry as the ‘Aberdeen Oil Show’. Held every two years this prestige event attracts energy exhibitors from all over the world, and none more so than the East of England
Following the recent press coverage of the opposition to the closure of this car park the Council would like to clarify the position. This car park has never according to current records been in the Council’s ownership, it did however take a lease of the site from the Port Authority for 21 years from 1965 and, while this agreement continued for a few years after expiry, it ceased completely and the site was passed back to the Port Authority a number of years ago
