Safer Workplaces Better Businesses
Over 50 businesses have benefited from a project set up by Great Yarmouth, North Norfolk, Breckland and Kings Lynn’s local councils. The four Norfolk councils joined forces to set up ‘The Safer Workplace, Better Business’ which helps make health and safety management easy for small businesses.
Local businesses took advantage of a free training session covering risk assessment, followed by a one to one coaching session and a final evaluation visit.
“In Great Yarmouth, businesses that have been evaluated have shown a dedicated commitment to the project.” said Harriet Sealey, Environmental Health Officer for Great Yarmouth Borough Council.” The project team now plan to meet in early November with a view to rolling it out next year to even more Norfolk businesses.”
Directors of Browston Hall, one of the many businesses who took part in the scheme praised the help they received from Environmental Health Officers at Great Yarmouth Borough Council and North Norfolk District Council.
Maggie Michel, and Carl Abbott, said “Being involved in the project has been a real benefit for us and our business, we are grateful for all the help and advice that we have received, which has resulted in a seemingly complicated procedure being made relatively easy to achieve. We now feel confidence that we can address Health and Safety matters internally.”
