Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)
The Council must assess the housing supply in accordance with Planning Policy Statement 3: Housing through a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA).
The SHLAA does not allocate land for development. It is undertaken as a technical exercise to determine land availability for potential residential development in the Borough.
The Council consulted with developers, landowners, property agents and other stakeholders to agree the methodology against which appropriate sites should be identified and which sites should be assessed.
Following the publication of the SHLAA Final Methodology, the Borough Council undertook site assessments in accordance with the methodology and concluded which sites were considered as having housing development potential and which ones did not.
It should be reiterated that any sites considered as potentially deliverable, developable or having no development potential have been based upon the information available at the time of the exercise and does not prejudice any future decision the Borough Council may make on any of the sites.
The SHLAA methodology and final report plus appendices are available to view under further information.
If you should require further information about the SHLAA, please contact Mr Kim Balls at Great Yarmouth Borough Council using the information under contact us.
