Sustainability
Great Yarmouth Borough Council added its name, on 25 September 2007, to over 200 local authorities nationally that have signed the Nottingham Declaration on Climate Change.
The Declaration is a voluntary pledge to address the issues of climate change. It was originally launched in October 2000 at a conference in Nottingham and was re-launched in December 2005 at the Second National Councils Climate Conference.
The Environmental Services Unit provides coherent and consistent response to the challenge of climate change.
Their role is to
Help manage energy consumption in council buildings.
Coordinate the development and implementation of the borough’s climate change strategy (mitigation and adaptation).
Encourage action on climate change through working with, and providing advice and support to, residents, schools, community groups and businesses.
Promote affordable warmth to all residents.
