If you claim Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance or Pension Credit

The Department for Work and Pensions will provide you with an HCTB1 form for you to claim housing and council tax benefit. (The Department for Work and Pensions is part of the Department of Social Security).

This form can be returned to either the Department for Work and Pensions or directly to Great Yarmouth Borough Council, you should not delay in submitting your form.

If you have not claimed, or are not entitled to Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance

You can claim benefit if you are on a low income. Please complete the application form for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit.

You can also collect a copy of the claim form and receive help to fill it in from any of these places:
  • Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
  • Citizens Advice Bureau.
After you have filled in the form, send it to us as soon as you can. Even if you do not have all the necessary information, you should still return the form and provide the other information later. Our address is on the form.

If you do not send it quickly, you could lose benefit.

Couples

If you are married, or living with someone as if you are married to them, you only need to fill in one claim form. You will need to tell us about the money you both have.
