Caretaking Services
The Housing Caretakers’ Service was formed in 1995, and was created to improve the environment of our housing estates and provide a more flexible and responsive service to all residents. Each caretaker works on a defined patch and ensures that the housing communal areas are maintained to a high standard, considering the cleanliness, maintenance, safety and security of each area.
Hours Worked
Each caretaker works 37 hours per week, using the flexi time system used by all Council employees. However, their core hours worked are between
Monday - Thursday
8.00 am. - 11.30 am, 1.00 p.m. -3.30 pm
7.30am - 11.00am, 12.30pm - 3.00pm (Middlegate)
Friday
7.30 am. - 11.00 am, 12.30 pm. - 3.00 pm.
7.00am - 10.30am, 12.00am - 2.30pm (Middlegate)
Caretaker Identification
Each caretaker wears a black uniform with the Council’s logo on all upper garments, and carries a certified identity card. This card will be shown on request and if there are any concerns regarding the caretaker’s identity you should contact 01493 846873 (Central/North Yarmouth; Cobholm; Southtown; Rural North); 01493 443004 (Gorleston; Rural South); 01493 857937 (Middlegate/South Yarmouth).
