Disabled People - Home Adaptations and Aids
Great Yarmouth Community Housing provides an adaptions service for physically disabled tenants who live in Council dwellings.
The work is usually carried out by our partnering contractor, David Neve builders, but in some cases we will use a specialist contractor. The following list is typical of the types of adaptations works we carry out however it is not exclusive and each application is treated on its own merits.
provision of internal and external disabled facilities such as grab rails and other various support rails
alterations to existing steps and thresholds
construction of concrete or timber ramps
removing baths and replacing with level floor or low profile showers
alterations or improvements to existing electrical installations
provision of, or improvements to, heating systems
installing a suitable stairlift (straight or curved type)
To apply for this service tenants, or the person acting on their behalf, should initially contact the Norfolk Care Connect Service on 0344 800 8014.
For further information relating to this service please contact Mr. M. Martin, technical Assistant (Adaptations) on 01493 846215, mam@great-yarmouth.gov.uk
