Safe at Home

safe-at-home

Safe at Home is a Home Improvement Agency. The service is non-profit making  and run by Great Yarmouth Borough Council.

The Safe at Home project can offer practical advice and help to improve your home by organising a variety of works. This might include access improvements such as ramps and grab rails, or essential repairs like re-roofing or rewiring.

We aim to offer a friendly, professional service to all our clients, regardless of the amount or type of work being carried out.

Norfolk Housing and Support Strategy for Older People

We are working on behalf of a range of agencies to develop a Housing and Community Support strategy for older people across Norfolk. By 2030, more than 1/3 of the population of Norfolk will be over 60 years old.

We need to make sure that we have plans in place to give older people choice about where they live and provide services that will help people live safely and independently in their own homes as long as possible.

Between January and summer 2010 a team from Melnyk and Scott (local housing consultants) will be

  • carrying out research and analysing a range of information which will give an indication of what older people need now and what they will need in the future

  • consulting with older people and agencies working on their behalf about preferences and aspirations

  • linking with Norfolk Adult Social Services and Health Services who are looking at related areas of work

  • developing an overall vision for housing and support services across Norfolk

  • identifying the different ways in which services could be delivered and the associated costs

We want to hear from you and we want to keep you updated on our progress – Our website is just one way that we will be keeping people informed about the project.

We are holding a number of drop in sessions across the county - we would like as many older people as possible to come and tell us their views! Remember if you can't make these dates you can e mail or visit our website for other locations.
