A Housing Strategy for Great Yarmouth 2004 and beyond

The Housing Strategy sets out the key housing issues and challenges facing the borough of Great Yarmouth.

It outlines the Council's agenda and priorities over the next few years, in the light of national frameworks and priorities and the regional and local context.

The strategy has been developed through extensive consultation with partners, community and tenant representatives.

The Housing Business Plan

The Business Plan seeks to reflect the various relevant strategies which the Council has adopted and to assist in delivering their aims and objectives.

It has also been developed within the framework of:

• The national and regional agenda for housing set by government.
• The wider local context of Great Yarmouth's high level of need and low income.
• The need for neighbourhood renewal and regeneration.

The main purposes of the Plan are to:

• Define the Council's aims and objectives as a provider of social housing.
• Set out standards and levels of performance in the delivery of services to tenants and other customers.
• Provide an analysis of the current position with regard to the condition and quality of the housing stock and future investment needs.
• Establish the means of delivering improvements to the service and the housing stock, within the constraints of available resource.
• Inform tenants, other partners and stakeholders of the Council's plans to provide the basis for ongoing consultation.

Sub Regional Housing Strategy

The Sub Regional Housing Strategy is the first distinct housing strategy for the Great Yarmouth and Waveney district council areas.

The Strategy is intended to set out the main housing issues which affect us as a subregion and to identify areas where we can add value by acting together.

The final draft of the Strategy is available to download below, however the Strategy is awaiting final approval by Council members.
