Outdoor Sport and Leisure
There are a variety of sports facilities throughout the Borough, please click on the links below for more detailed information about the services we provide.

There are seven bowling greens in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston which are available for the general public as well as organised clubs to enjoy. The outdoor bowls season starts in May each year and continues through until September. The bowling greens are available every day from 10:00 a.m. until dusk.
Most of the bowling greens also have resident bowls clubs.
Skateboarding and BMX Facilities
Due to demand from the local wheeled sports fraternity, Great Yarmouth Borough Council has provided free facilities for Skateboarding and BMX activities at sites in the Borough since December 2002:

Each site includes fixed street course equipment, with the layout of each park designed by local users.
All sites are available to use during daylight hours, with the park at Cobholm being floodlit until 8:45 p.m. every evening. All users must provide their own equipment and safety clothing and observe on-site safety information.

All are available for use during daylight hours free of charge, with floodlights available at Cobholm and Caister King George V Playing Field.
The Council operated pitch and putt is situated in the 20-acre Bure Park on Caister Road, it offers wide open spaces for walking, a lake with wild fowl, children’s play area and seating for picnics. For full details please click on this link: Bure Park Pitch and Putt
Whatever the season, the Council provides facilities for active participation in team sports. Pitches are provided throughout the Borough. All facilities are available on both a casual and season ticket basis.

Wellesley Recreation Ground includes an all-weather athletics track, football grandstand, new 3G multi-sports facility and tennis court. The ground is the home of of Great Yarmouth Town Football Club and Great Yarmouth and District Athletics Club.
The multi-use 3G sports facility can be hired out at the following rates:
Monday - Friday 09:00 - 16:00 - £12.90 per hour which includes floodlighting if required.
All other times £24.70 per hour.
If a block of 10 sessions is booked then the discounted rate is £214.78 which equates to £21.47 per hour.
If a block of 20 sessions is booked then the discounted rate is £429.56

Individuals are also welcome to use the track facilities from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday free of charge.
A putting green, bowls green, tennis courts, basketball and football area are located at Gorleston Cliffs where the Trim Trail, a fun free activity trail for all ages can also be found. There is also the adiZone at Mill Lane Playing Field in Bradwell which can be used free of charge
The tennis courts are open from 1st May at 10.00am till dusk. They close at the end of September
A range of concessions are available for children of 16 years and under, persons of 60 years and older, and those in receipt of various allowances. Block bookings and season tickets are also available at a number of facilities. For more information please view the Sport and Leisure Passes page
