Invitation to the Mayor's Civic Ball
PR 130
7 February 2006
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
As the Mayor Councillor George Jermany’s term in office draws to a close, Great Yarmouth residents have the chance to wine, dine, dance and celebrate the events of the last year.
The Mayor and Mayoress are hoping that up to 500 people will join them at the Mayor’s Civic Ball, to be held at the Ocean Rooms, Gorleston, on April 7.
Tickets for the black tie ball are now on sale at £30 each. The evening will feature a three-course meal, dancing to the Ocean Room’s resident band Tuxedo Junction and a raffle.
Proceeds of the raffle, and any donations the public would like to give, will go to the Mayor’s charities.
As his term in office coincided with the Trafalgar Bicentenary, Councillor Jermany has chosen a maritime theme for his charities - including organisations such as the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and National Coastwatch a voluntary organisation that, since 1994, has manned small coastguard stations closed through financial cutbacks.
“During the last year The Mayoress and I have met many interesting people and attended, on behalf of the Borough, a range of events from the Young at Heart dinner to meeting HRH the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall,” said Councillor Jermany.
“It has been an extremely rewarding year.”
Applications for tickets, or charity donations, can be made by calling The Mayor’s Secretary Laura Goodman on 01493 846125.
