FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
After the successful introduction of the new drink, food and entertainment licenses in November, Great Yarmouth Borough Council will be visiting premises to offer advice on complying with the new laws.
Licensing Officers will be making visits over the next few months to pubs, clubs, entertainment premises and late night food outlets.
The inspectors will be checking that licensees are aware of what they need to do to comply with the basic requirements of the law, to ensure that individual licence conditions are being met, and also to offer help and advice.
“The Council takes its licensing responsibilities very seriously,” said Chris Skinner, Head of Member and Legal Services.
“We need to ensure that both licensees and the public have confidence in the new licensing arrangements. By carrying out the visits over the coming months we will have early indications of any issues or non compliance.
“Recently the Council successfully prosecuted the Gambas restaurant for not holding the necessary licences. We will prosecute in the future, if we need to, but hope that this will be heeded by the industry as a warning that the rules must be obeyed.”
