Park Strategy - Last chance to air your views

PR 136

28 February 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Great Yarmouth Borough Council wants to remind residents that time is running out to air their views on the future of the town’s parks and green spaces.

The Council’s Environmental Strategy Manager, Simon Mutten, headed a two year research programme to look at the provision of parks and open green spaces in the Borough, their use and the future needs of residents and visitors.

The result is the recently published consultation document which explains aspects such as the Borough’s needs.

Throughout 2004 the Council consulted residents and visitors to determine what they liked and disliked about the Borough parks and open spaces.

Results showed that while residents value their open spaces, they want parks and open spaces kept clean, attractive and accessible.

“We need the views of the public by March 10 to help us to implement strategies which will improve the quality of neighbourhoods and enhance resident’s well being,” said Simon Mutten. “But so far response has been limited.”

“A copy of the consultation document can be obtained by calling at our Maltings House office, on Southtown Road, by writing in for a copy to:

or from here.

“Replies can come to me in writing or by email to parks@great-yarmouth.gov.uk by March 10.”

For further information call Environmental Strategy Manager, Simon Mutten, on 01493 846449.
