It's Time for 6,000 More Households to go Green!

PR 121

9 January 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Over the last two weeks Great Yarmouth Borough Council has delivered wheeled bins to 6,000 homes in Southtown, Lichfield, Cobholm and parts of Gorleston.

“We would just like to remind the people that have just taken delivery of their bins that for the week beginning January 23 the green recycling bin will be emptied,” said Recycling and Waste Minimisation Officer, Rob Cole. The green recycling bin is for paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and steel and aluminium cans. The first emptying of the Grey Rubbish bin will occur the following week commencing 30th January.

Other recyclable items such as glass bottles, clothes and shoes cannot unfortunately go in the green recycling bin but can be recycled at bring bank sites around the Borough. If you cannot get to a bring bank however, these items can be disposed of in your Grey Rubbish Bin.

“All items which go into the green recycling bins should be put in loose and not in bags. However, please continue to bag up all the waste you place in your Grey Rubbish Bin.

“Delivery of the bins has gone well, and we look forward to recycling rates rising.”

For further information call Recycling and Waste Minimisation Officer, Rob Cole on 01493 846441.
