2 January 2007
Great Yarmouth Local Development Framework
1st East Urban Regeneration Company Area Action Plan Preferred Options Consultation
“Two Towns One Vision”
Residents and businesses can help regenerate the brownfield and waterfront areas of Great Yarmouth and Gorleston by having their say on the 1st East Urban Regeneration Company Area Action Plan Preferred Options.
The Preferred Options is the second stage of the consultation process. It gets underway on 5 January 2007 with the key aim of redeveloping the brownfield and waterfront areas. Having been agreed by full Council on 19 October 2006 the Area Action Plan Preferred Options and Draft Sustainability Appraisal Report will now undergo a further period of consultation between 5 January and 19 February 2007.
It builds on previous community and stakeholder consultations, which began in March 2006, from which the Preferred Options have evolved.
The Urban Regeneration Area Action Plan will guide the redevelopment of the brownfield and waterfront areas and will form a Development Plan Document within the Local Development Framework (LDF). The LDF will replace the current Great Yarmouth Borough–Wide Local Plan (2001), which is used to assess planning applications and will provide planning policy guidance to 2021.
The Head of Planning and Development, Peter Warner said: “This is an important project involving both 1st East, the Borough Council and other local authorities and agencies. It is vital to the success of the planning policies that the public and local businesses get involved in shaping the future of the towns riverside areas.”
The documents will be available to view on the Council’s website www.great-yarmouth.gov.uk 1st East’s website www.1steast.co.uk and at Council Offices, Libraries and Community Liaison and Information Points (CLIP’s) throughout the Borough.
