New Sport Activities in the Borough
The Active England project, which brings sport to people of all ages throughout the Borough of Great Yarmouth, has launched some new low cost fitness initiatives. The CASSTLE centre at Alderman Swindell School, Great Yarmouth, has become home to two new clubs for under 12s. Active Feet Football and Active Netball are aimed at six to 12-year olds. Everyone is welcome, including absolute beginners, and they can start this week.
The football runs every Saturday from 10 to 11.30 am. With netball following from 11.30am to 1pm. Both sessions cost just £1.50 each.
Active Feet Football Academy also has slots in its Wroughton Middle School sessions, which also run on Saturday mornings, from 10am to 12 noon. The cost is the same.
A free community basket ball club for 10 to 16 years olds begins on Tuesday (16) at Lichfield community centre (opposite Edward Worlledge School). The sessions, for 10 to 16-year-olds will run from 8 to 9pm.
But it isn’t just the youngsters that Active England is looking after. In partnership with health trainers from Community Connections (who are part funded by the NHS to help get local communities fit), there will be Active Life sessions at Oriel High School, Gorleston.
Anyone over 16 can take part in low-impact aerobic sessions, as well as gaining advice on nutrition, health and fitness testing.
Sessions will run from 6 to 7.30 pm as the low cost of just £1.50 per session.
Active England is funded by Sport England and managed by Great Yarmouth Sports Partnership.
For further information or to book a place on any of the courses call Active England coordinator Marten Payne on 07766 205746.
