School Visit to Sand Sculpture Festival
PR 217
For immediate release
18 July 2006
Winterton First School is one of several local schools to enjoy a visit to the Ancient Greece Sand Sculpture Festival on central beach, Great Yarmouth, as an end of term treat supported by the school’s friends association.
The school was welcomed by Councillor Bertie Collins, the Council’s portfolio holder for Tourism, Culture & Enterprise, and Great Yarmouth Borough Council Tourism Marketing Manager Nicola Gibson who said: “This is a fantastic and unique opportunity for children to learn and cover a number of subjects on the national curriculum whilst also enjoying the fresh air and sunshine on Yarmouth’s golden mile.”
The children toured the festival learning the mythology of ancient Greece and then tried their hand at building their own sand sculptures using Headmistress Mrs Trish Thompson as their model.
The festival is open throughout the summer until 10 September from 11am to 6.00pm daily. For more information on group/school trips contact Nicola on 01493 846340.
For further information call Tourism Marketing Manager Nicola Gibson on 01493 846340.
