Boys and Girls Come out to Play - For Free!

PR 223

For immediate release

27 July 2006

The Great Yarmouth Sports Partnership is inviting youngsters in the Borough to come out and enjoy the fresh air during the school holidays – and get the first session free!

The Partnership, whose members include the Borough Council, Great Yarmouth Primary Care Trust and Great Yarmouth Sports Council, has put together a six week programme of sports fun throughout the Borough.

Mobile sports units are being used to offer a range of activities including football, hockey, kiting, volleyball, cricket, soft ball… and much more. A two-hour session costs just £2 as the activities are subsidised through Sport England and the Big lottery fund - but for next week only (Monday July 31 to Friday August 4) the first session is free.

“The mobile units mean that we can offer sporting facilities in four locations in just one day,” said Active England coordinator Marten Payne.

“People can pre-book a place or just turn up on the day. The activities are aimed at youngsters between the ages of 6 and 14, and they don’t have to have any experience, it’s a good chance to try something different.”

The sessions begin on Monday 24 July and go through the holidays until Friday September 1.

Venus are:
