Everyday Sport Roadshow Got Airing on Gorleston Cliffs

Revellers attending Saturday’s Gorleston Cliffs Gala had the opportunity to see some unusual ways of keeping fit and active including Egyptian dancing.

The Everyday Sport Roadshow, a national initiative, staged demonstrations which also included pole dancing and the martial art Tai Chi.

The roadshow was organised by the Great Yarmouth Sports Partnership, the Great Yarmouth Sport and Leisure Trust, Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Radio Norfolk’s CSV Action Desk.

“The gala was an excellent opportunity to show the people attending just how much the Borough has on offer to help people lead a more active and healthy life,” said the Council’s Culture, Sport and Leisure Manager, Marie Hartley.

“There is something to interest everyone, and all ages, from taking a walk to joining in a team sport, going to the gym or dancing of all kinds.

“At the event Active Norfolk was carrying out agility tests on youngsters, and we also had information on five-a-day to encourage healthy eating habits.”

Visitors to the Everyday Sport Roadshow, which is sponsored by Sport England, were given a goody bag and a pedometer to help them judge just how much, or little, walking they do in the course of a day.

Information packs are still available by calling the CSV Norfolk Action Desk at Radio Norfolk on 01603 631631.
