Music to Help Personalise Crematorium Services

PR 156

28 March 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s Crematorium is helping people to personalise services by offering a wide choice of music.

From April 2 friends and relatives organising a service will have the opportunity to use a new service provided by Wesley Music. It gives access to hymns, organ music and many popular tunes.

The choice is so vast it encompasses anything that is currently commercially available. Wesley Music is a computer based system which can even search out music not currently in its catalogue and email it to the Crematorium to be downloaded for the service.

“About 20 per cent of Crematoriums now use the system,” explained Bereavement Services Manager, Linda Bigg. “Traditional hymns can be accompanied by a large church organ and a choir if required, or it can be just the music.

“There is also a selection of pieces for people to enter and leave the chapel by, as well as popular music from years gone by up to the modern day.

“Mourners can also request a CD to be made of the complete service which will include every aspect from the music, to the minister’s words and eulogies.”

The service extends to Wesley Music being able to supply items taken from tapes, CDs or vinyl records owned by families or friends.

Details of the new service, which resolves all royalty and copyright issues, can be obtained from funeral directors or the Crematorium’s Bereavement Services on 01493 441974.

The CD of the service is available in a presentation case approximately one week after the service for £20.

For further information call Bereavement Services Manager, Linda Bigg on 01493 441974.
