Opportunities for children during Easter

Great Yarmouth’s own Active England project is inviting youngsters in the Borough to come out and enjoy the fresh air during the Easter holidays.

Active England, which is funded by Sport England, and managed by Great Yarmouth Primary Care Trust and Great Yarmouth Sports Council, has put together a two week programme of sports and fun for all ages in the Borough.

The transport mobile sports stadium will be used to offer a range of activities including football, hockey, kiting, volleyball, cricket, soft ball… and much more. This facility will be located on Gorleston beach Monday to Thursday for the first week of the school holiday and Tuesday to Friday on the second week.

Two hour sessions will run from 10am to 12 noon and 1 to 3pm. A session costs just £2, as the activities are subsidised through Sport England and the Big Lottery fund.

Active - X community sports club is pleased to announce the launch of its street dance/hip hop sessions running every Friday at the Marina Centre. To celebrate its launch we will be providing a three day street dance/hip hop style workshop starting Wednesday 11 April to Friday 13, from 12 till 5pm. This is open to all eight to 13 year olds and will offer step-by-step instruction for beginners costing £32 for the three days.

Active - X is also pleased to announce the continuation of its School Holiday Adventure sports camps. The camps will run from 9am to 4pm and cost just £8 a day. There are a mix of sporting activities and experiences on offer including power kiting, with our IKO qualified instructors, climbing on our very own wall, beach based sports, football from our FA qualified coaches, basket ball, volleyball, swimming and much more

Marten Payne the projects co-ordinator said: “People can pre-book a place on the Marina Centre activities with me on 07766 205746 or martenpayne@hotmail.com.

“For the Gorleston beach based stadium just turn up on the day. The activities are aimed at youngsters between the ages of six and 14, and they don’t have to have any experience, it’s a good chance to try something different.”

For more information on any of the above activities please contact Marten Payne on 07766 205746 or martenpayne@hotmail.com.
