Crocuses Bring a Reminder of Sunshine

In a week when the elements have thrown everything at us - a colourful reminder of sunny days is to be fund on Pasteur Road, Great Yarmouth.
In November 2005 GYB Services, which tends the gardens for Great Yarmouth Borough Council, was instrumental in having 100,000 crocus corms planted on part of the central reservation toward the north end of the road.
A little drop of spring sunshine a few months later saw them burst into bloom. The effect was so stunning that GYB Services repeated the operation last November and added another 100,000 corms.
“For many years crocuses were a common sight around that part of the town, but they disappeared with road alterations,” explained Council Leader Barry Coleman.
“We decided to restore the plants many times over - and you only have to glance along the road to see the stunning effect.”
