A Call to Youngsters to Get on their Feet and Get Active
PR 178
15 May 2006
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Youngsters in the Borough have the opportunity to hone their skills to emulate their world cup heroes through a new initiative – Active Feet - which might just discover the next Beckham, Rooney or Theo Walcott.
Great Yarmouth’s community sports project Active England has launched a football development programme with Gorleston Rangers Football Club, to bring new players into the game and helping develop footballing fundamentals such as co-ordination, fitness and ball skills.
Active Feet takes place from 10am till 12pm every Saturday at Wroughton Middle School, Gorleston, and costs just £1 for the 2 hour session.
Marten Payne the projects coordinator said: “Active Feet is looking to attract young novice players who are not currently attached to a club.
“All of our coaches are FA qualified up to level 3 and create a positive and friendly learning environment for the children to develop their skills.”
Chris Dunn, the Gorleston Rangers club secretary, expressed his enthusiasm for Active Feet: “This project is a great example of partnership working. Not only will local children have the opportunity to play and learn, but any promising talents can then be further enhanced in one of our Gorleston Rangers teams.”
Active England would like to thank Wroughton First and Middle Schools for opening their facilities to the local community.
If your sons or daughters are interested in joining Active Feet and are aged between five and 12, then please call Marten Payne on 07766 205746 or come along on a Saturday to Wroughton Middle School from 10am till 12.
