The Borough looks Blooming Good

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Months of hard work has seen the borough of Great Yarmouth burst into bloom.

The parks and garden team of GYB Services, the organisation that plants the gardens, tends them and keeps the grass spick and span for the Council, can take a few seconds to admire the view before the next phase starts into action.

Work began on planting the spring bedding last October. It has seen thousands of wallflowers, Bellis daises and panolas (a cross between a pansy and a viola) planted in St Georges Park, along the Gorleston and Great Yarmouth seafronts and in Priory Park, Gorleston… to name but a few of the places.

The grass has been tended all through the winter with regular cutting - to ensure that when May blossomed the Borough was a place to be proud of.

Meanwhile behind the scenes there has been much planning undertaken to get ready the summer bedding which will going into place in June.

“The gardens are at their peak at the moment,” said Assistant Operations Manager Peter Holland. “But it takes a large team of gardeners to get them to look this good.

“As the summer season approaches we have 80,000 bedding plants to plant out, and some beds have been redesigned - such as one beside the Carlton Hotel on the seafront which has taken on a Mediterranean look.

“The task is never ending, but not many people get the satisfaction that we do when we see the end product.”

For further information call Assistant Operations Manager Peter Holland on 01493 846103.
