Gorleston Seafront Getting Ready for the Sun
PR 181
17 May 2006
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gorleston seafront has seen a flurry of activity as beach huts and the yacht pond have undergone minor repairs and a lick of paint to put them back into full service.
The Borough Council undertook a recent survey to ensure that the beach huts were safe for public use. The findings ascertained that minor repairs and a coat or two of paint would see the huts back in full service by the weekend.
The yacht pond caused some users a little dismay when they found it was at low tide last week.
GYB Services, the company that carries our repairs and maintenance work for the Council, has made some repairs and sunk two bore holes to provide the water needed to keep the yacht pond topped up.
“Regular users and visitors will find that Gorleston seafront is putting on its summer best to welcome them,” said Graham Jermyn director of GYB Services.
“A great deal of work goes into getting the seafront ready for the summer season such as removing drift sand and appointing beach lifeguards - and this week has seen some of the finishing touches to two of the amenities.
“Maintenance work does go on all year round, and I hope people will also appreciate the hard work that goes into keeping the grass cut and flower beds looking good.”
