Bradwell Community Woodland Project
PR 284For Immediate Release
13 November 2006
A splendid response to a plea earlier this year to help plant trees in Bradwell has prompted organisers to enlarge their fledgling copse.
In February more than 60 volunteers helped plant 450 saplings in Bradwell’s woodland site between El Alamein Way and Mill Lane Playing field.
“Please come along on Sunday November 19 and bring a spade if you have one,” is the request of the secretary of Bradwell Community Wood Project, Vicki Collins.
“We have another 450 young trees to plant so the more volunteers the better, and we will even provide refreshments to help them with the job.”
The project is aided by the Green Light Trust an environmental and educational charity. It encourages communities to create woodlands through its People Planting Scheme.
Children from Hillside and Homefield First Schools will also contribute to the scheme by planting trees, two days before, through the Trust’s School Rolling Programme.
“I would like to thank the Forestry Commission for a grant to help purchase the trees, and to Great Yarmouth Borough Council for supplying copious amounts of mulch to put around the base of the saplings,” added Vicki.
“We look forward to seeing lots of volunteers at Mill Lane Community Centre at 10.30 on the 19
th”.
