Council asks Disabled Citizens for their Advice

PR268

For Immediate Release

17 October 2006

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is inviting disabled citizens and their carers to a forum to discuss the kind of issues that matter to them.

The Council, working closely with Great Yarmouth Disability Forum, has arranged an open meeting for members of the public and organisations to give their views on how easy they find access to Council services.

“We need to know what people want, to enable us to improve our services,” said Communications and Diversity Officer Karla Symonds. “Do they have problems physically accessing Council owned buildings, or making contact through email or the telephone.

“But we also want to hear about issues such as car parking and leisure provision. The information will not only be used by ourselves but will be taken forward to a county-wide initiative which aims to give disabled people better access to local authority services.”

The meeting is to be held at Cobholm and Lichfield Community Centre on Tuesday October 24 from 2 to 4.30pm. Please will anyone interested in attending, contact Karla on 01493 846512 to book their place.

For further information contact Communications and Diversity Officer Karla Symonds on 01493 846512.
