‘Recycle More Bin Less’ is the message to residents this Christmas from the Borough Council as part of their ongoing campaign to reduce the huge amount of household waste that goes to landfill.
“At Christmas the average family generates about one third extra waste but a great deal of this can be recycled. If we recycle as much waste as possible and put less in our bins, then we can drastically reduce the amount of waste going into landfill,” said Rob Cole, Environmental Strategy Officer for Waste and Recycling.
Over the last few weeks the Council has highlighted a variety of ways householders can recycle waste, for instance, campaigns we support like the national ‘Love Food Hate Waste Campaign’, local initiatives – The Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Caister, bottles banks and various Christmas recycling tips – recycling Christmas trees, cards etc.
For waste that can’t be recycled, please note that collection days will be changing over the Christmas period. Bin hangers will be left at all properties before Christmas.
