Great Yarmouth Borough Council is now sending out final reminder forms for the electoral register and would like to remind residents to return them so that they don’t lose their right to vote.
Forms have been sent to every household in the Borough, and nearly 90% of households have returned them but there are still some people who have failed to respond despite being sent a reminder.
Failure to respond to the form could see individuals lose their right to take part in local and general elections. “The register is also used for residency checks, so if you aren’t registered you might have problems opening a bank account, obtaining credit or even hiring a mobile phone,” said Elections Manager Linda Mockford.
Forms must be returned as soon as possible, as the new register has to be published by 1 December 2007. Don’t wait until the next election to find out that you cannot vote IT WILL BE TOO LATE.
If your household hasn’t received a registration form, please telephone the helpline 01493 846548 and a form will be posted to you.
